Meeting Agendas

Local government bodies are required to make their meeting agendas accessible to the public at least 48 hours prior to their regular meetings. The agendas must reasonably describe the matters to be deliberated or acted upon during the public meeting. Local governments that have a website must publish the agendas on their website and posting the agendas on the website satisfies this requirement. Local government bodies are authorized to consider matters not on the posted agenda as long as the bodies follow their bylaws or properly adopted rules and procedures and comply with all other applicable state laws.  The local bodies covered by this law include county legislative bodies, planning commissions, boards of zoning appeals, public utility boards, industrial development corporations, housing authorities, airport authorities, county election commissions, and county budget committees.T.C.A. § 8-44-110.
