CTAS is proud to announce that 62 county officials and employees from across Tennessee have achieved the designation of Certified Public Administrator. These individuals represent a wide range of county offices and departments and were honored at two Capstone events held June 4-6, 2025, and June 24-26, 2025, in Franklin.

To earn this designation, participants completed 115 credit hours in the County Officials Certificate Training Program (COCTP), administered by the University of Tennessee County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS). This statewide program is open to all county officials and employees and is designed to strengthen the skills and knowledge needed to serve their communities more effectively.
“This is a unique program that offers a broad continuum of training to county officials and employees to provide them with the knowledge to serve their citizens better,” said Jon Walden, Executive Director of CTAS.
Courses cover essential topics such as ethics, finance, records management, proactive leadership, fire insurance ratings, and information technology. The curriculum emphasizes practical, office-specific training to enhance both technical and leadership competencies in county government.
“The entire program is designed for practicality and to build skills the officials need every day to serve their constituents better,” Walden said.
Congratulations to all the newly designated Certified Public Administrators for their hard work and commitment to professional excellence in county government.
