A new virtual training series is coming this July specifically for county government professionals. Mental Health in County Government is a three-session series led by Jaime Harper from the TN Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services, designed to give you practical tools for managing the emotional demands of public service.

If you've spent any time working in county government, you know this work gets into your heart. You care about your community, your colleagues, and the people walking through your door every day β€” and that dedication comes with real emotional weight. Compassion fatigue, burnout, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion don't just affect our personal lives; they affect how we show up for our colleagues, our families, and the constituents counting on steady, capable leadership.

This series offers honest, practical conversations about overcoming burnout, creating environments where healing and open dialogue can happen, and connecting yourself and the people around you to mental health resources in your community.
